Gem O'Clock is founded and run by me, Alexandra Bardac. I began creating and selling my handmade pieces at just 22 years old, driven by a deep love for art and storytelling.

In 2019, I took my first metalsmithing class and instantly knew I had found the perfect medium for handmade work. I’ve always been drawn to the beauty of imperfection and the magic of the making something unique with my own hands.

Through metalsmithing, I quickly discovered the world of lapidary work and in 2021, I began my journey as a gemstone faceter. What started as a curious exploration quickly turned into a full-time passion. Faceting gemstones allowed me to connect even more deeply with the materials I use, bringing a new level of precision, light, and intention into my work. As my skills evolved, so did the business, growing naturally from this newfound love of stone cutting.

 

My pieces are intentionally crafted to reflect that: one-of-a-kind, intimate story that reflect the passions of the wearer.

I’m a natural dreamer, always chasing ideas that stir a quiet ache for a world shaped by wind, stone, and light. Nature is my muse and light is the medium that I can control or let it control the gemstone. While light takes center stage in a gemstone’s dance, shadow moves alongside it. Its quiet, inseparable partner. Together, they weave shifting patterns of brilliance and depth. Where the gemstone captures light, it also holds mystery, revealing its full story only in the spaces where light and shadow meet.

Gem O'Clock is currently based just outside Bucharest, Romania, where I live and work on my creations. Though I have wandered and moved quite often, during my early study years, my roots are always grounded in creativity, nature, and storytelling.
